My name is Ainsley McPherson, about 30 years ago I took up Folk Art, after learning ceramics and oil painting I wanted to further my knowledge in all mediums.
I joined the Vic. Folk Art Soc. which enabled me to find different teachers, I booked into as many workshops as I could to learn different techniques and styles, I also completed the Soc. Teacher Development Program.
A few friends asked me to teach them and then it went from there, running workshops and classes at home and other studios as well as conventions in Vic and Qld.
How I started on animals, my brothers girlfriend asked could I paint a picture of his dog for a present, I said I would try, well I started not sure how I was going to paint his beautiful German Shepherd, it turned out well and that led me to doing other peoples pets, I also love doing wild animals as I feel before long most will be extinct and I try to capture their personalities.
I have been lucky to sell & have won numerous prizes from first to fourth at shows in Victoria & Queensland from the Melbourne Royal Show, Emerald, Lilydale, Fraser Coast, Kyneton, Kangaroo Flat, Bendigo & Dandenong shows. I have painted a commission for The Yarra Valley Conference centre , & have also taught at the Victorian & Queensland conventions
I am available to teach workshops at studios or paint commissions.
